National Orphan Day May 25th
Join our mission to establish a national holiday that recognizes and celebrates the orphans in America. Orphans endure many struggles that are often overlooked because of the lack of basic assistance. The strength and perseverance orphans have should be acknowledged and celebrated. To all the orphans reading this, you are not alone.
Why National Orphan Day?
There is a World Orphan Day but we feel that it doesn't give enough awareness and credit to the American orphans and their struggles and accomplishments. May 25th is exactly between Mother's Day and Father's Day so it gives orphans the feeling of inclusion and recognition.
Our Goals
Our first goal is to establish the day May 25th as an observed national holiday.
Our other goals are to work with businesses and government to offer services and products to help orphans navigate life as a juvenile and adult.
• School grants for college and grade school. This could be for tuition, supplies, or transportation.
• Housing assistance. This could range from helping with moving into an apartment to a down payment on a home.
• Financial tools such as helping establish FICO credit, opening bank accounts, and auto loans and credit cards.
• Health care assistance and help accessing medical care.
• Transportation. Help navigating the DMV, down payment assistance on first-time auto purchase, and insurance.
• Legal assistance. This could vary from help with legal forms to navigating social security benefits.
